Mike and Mandi

I met Mike 6 years ago one night at News Cafe, Meyersdal. Little did he know that I had actually seen him 4 years before that at his ex-wife’s father’s funeral. Mike and I had a real connection from day one – we both liked to party and once we got to know each other we realised we shared strong family values especially as they related to bringing up our children. Mike has a 22 yr old daughter and I have an 18 yr old son and 10yr old daughter. Our marriage has been the perfect union not only of two people who love and care for each other and can see ourselves grow old happily with our dearest family and friends, but it has also been the union of two beautiful families. We dated on and off for 6 years after our first evening together. Neither of us will deny that these were rocky years when it came to being in a relationship but 4 years later Mike popped the question while on a family holiday in December 2011 on the Symphonia.

When we decided to get married we did not think we needed a wedding planner  as our wedding was only going to be 40 of our closest friends and family for a weekend wedding at Zebula in Bela Bela.  How difficult could it be to organise a wedding weekend for 40 people!!?? Very soon  we realised that as we were both hard working people there was still a lot of preparation required in order to make our wedding weekend a success. Even though it was a second wedding for both of us and not expected to be the traditional formal type of celebration, we still wanted it to be a wedding  to remember in every sense of the word. Enter the need for a wedding planner and how we came across Vicki Martin from Saphirre Weddings.  - Mandi

At our very first meeting with Vicki Martin we both knew we were in good hands. Throughout the 5 months leading up to our wedding, Vicki had everything covered at all times and with a calm and can-do attitude addressed all our wedding requirements very professionally while keeping budget constraints top of mind.

Vicki has a unique ability to want to understand her clients personally so that the final touch on the wedding day represents the deepest qualities of the wedding couple’s unity and love. No crisis is a real crisis for Vicki … the best was 2 weeks before the wedding (which happened to be the week between Christmas and New Year) when Vicki and I (the bride) realised that neither of us had sorted out the stationary for the wedding day i.e. table settings, menu and name tags for tables etc.

This was no crisis for Vicki. She calmly took things under control and in what happened to be the worst week of the year in the South African calendar, still managed to get the stationary all sorted out within 3 days. We would highly recommend Vicki as a wedding planner. Her knowledge and experience spans all aspects of wedding requirements with her best qualities being the ability to remain calm and make you feel that you can relax and enjoy the day knowing that all fine details are being carefully attended to under her eagle eye. – Mandi
